Filling In The Gaps

Some of the worst pain that you can feel as a musician is not knowing the song. Not knowing the chord changes. Blowing the solo because you weren’t prepared. Messing up on a gig because you weren’t strong enough. Knowing that you could have done better but instead crashed and burned because you haven’t put in the work.

This is the time to rebuild. This is the time to fill in the gaps. This is a chance to fix the broken places. This is a time to strengthen. This is a time to gain confidence. This is a time to hit the wood shed. This is a time to work on the things that I can’t play. This is a chance to really learn the songs I never really learned.

I want to remember this concept as I move forward in the coming weeks / months / years. Things are challenging right now for everyone. This is how I want to view these challenges for myself. I want to use every moment that I’ve been blessed with to build a better me, and by extension a better life for myself.
